My name is Dr. Akul Patel, I am a physician at Curana Health. I began working as a family physician in 2020 and have worked in a variety of different settings including providing outpatient primary care, acute inpatient hospital care, and skilled nursing home care.
I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Bates College in Lewiston, ME and subsequently attended the American University of Antigua College of Medicine for my medical degree. I am board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and a proud member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians.
After finishing my residency at a rural family medicine residency program in the greater Pittsburgh area, I received a unique opportunity to work as a primary care physician at a local LIFE/PACE program where I cared exclusively for seniors with multiple chronic and acute medical conditions. That experience inspired me to continue working with seniors, a growing population across the country. Caring for seniors is where I feel I can make the largest impact in my role as a medical professional.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and watching sports.
